Director of the Malaysian Fisheries Academy
The Malaysian Fisheries Academy or APM is a Skills Institution that plays a major role in building integrated training modules and human capital for trainees and fishermen.
APM as an institution that has been established for a long time has always taken proactive steps and is responsive to the government’s aspirations through integrated training modules. The training modules are carefully and in detail designed in the form of short-term and long-term courses.
In line with its status as an Accredited Center of the Agricultural Capacity Development and Training Division (BPKLP) which offers certification in the field of Capture Fisheries Technology skills, APM focuses on aspects of technical skills and human development based on the National Occupational Skills Standard (SPKP) or National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS) in improving the quality of the fisheries sector, especially to meet the needs of the target group. This program will encourage the younger generation to get involved in agriculture as skilled workers and commercial and large-scale agricultural entrepreneurs through the use of the latest technology to improve quality and productivity.
Every civil servant at APM must always be proactive and committed in line with the APM motto as “CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN KNOWLEDGE”. This motto should be a catalyst and guiding principle for all civil servants at APM which is based on producing services that lead to producing competent trainees with skills and focusing on practical training, projects and simulations. In addition, programs at APM will focus on training in terms of improving knowledge and skills, strengthening trainees’ identity and workplace safety practices.
Information Technology is a very effective and up-to-date media. The existence of this website provides space for APM to channel information about activities that have been, are being and will be carried out easily and accurately. As the Director of APM, I hope that the information channeled through this website can provide a clearer picture of the role and function of APM in realizing the government’s intention to make the fisheries sector a sustainable and competitive national food industry. This website is also expected to provide information and inspiration to the fishing community, especially fishermen, fishing industry workers and fishing industry employers throughout the country. Hopefully, the noble efforts of the work to provide a harmonious, prosperous and meaningful life for the fishing community will be achieved with excellence.
Finally, with full commitment and strong spirit, I hope that all APM members will always give me strong cooperation to carry out my responsibilities to achieve the objectives of APM and the Malaysian Fisheries Department.
Thank you.
