Fisheries Certificate Program

The Fisheries Certificate Program was established by the Department of Fisheries Malaysia through the Malaysian Fisheries Academy to provide broader opportunities for SPM and SPMV graduates to venture into the fisheries field.

This program combines theoretical knowledge and practical experience, while also giving students comprehensive exposure to the fisheries industry. Its main focus is on four (4) aspects:

  • Capture Fisheries and Aquaculture
  • Biosecurity
  • Product Management
  • Post-Harvest Fisheries

The aim is to produce skilled graduates who are capable of facing global challenges and meeting the demands of the job market.

Program Learning Objectives (PEO)

  • PEO 1:

    To produce graduates in the fisheries field who are professional, have high work ethics and social responsibility in all aspects of management and have the ability to work autonomously and in teams. (Professionalism).

  • PEO 2:

    To encourage graduates to continue learning and developing themselves in the fisheries field through continuing education, entrepreneurship and participation in the industry, and to be able to lead and adapt in a dynamic work environment. (Continuous personal development)

  • PEO 3:

    Graduates contribute to sustainable development through social responsibility. (Social engagement).

Program Entry Requirements

Malaysian Citizen.

Physically healthy.

Age 18 to 30 years.

SPM graduate or equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

Passed Mathematics or Science or STEM/STEM Elective subjects or graduated from SKM Level 2 in a related field.

Passed the interview.

Training Period

The Fisheries Certificate Program is offered full-time and continues for four semesters – 1 year and 7 months.
